Cash for Kids is a brilliant charity ran by Bauer Media which helps disadvantaged children – especially over the festive period helping countless children get presents over Christmas.
To contribute to our community, we have a ‘Dress Down Friday’ at the end of each month where staff contribute money towards a charity.
Our team collected just under £200 worth of Christmas gifts to be sent to Cash for Kids for children and young people as everyone should have something to open on Christmas morning!
Established during a time of great industrial and social change in 1889, and due to a lack of affordable quality facilities dedicated to young people, Bolton Lads & Girls Club (BLGC) was one of the first organisations in the North West to recognise the importance of providing young people a safe place to spend their free time.
The founders of the Club, two church leaders and three industrialists, met and decided they must do something to improve the lives of young people working in mills. They responded by buying an old warehouse in Bark Street and opened it as a hostel where the young workers could wash, eat and sleep in peace.
We know little of their long-term intentions for the Club, it is probable that they thought the hostel would close when the short-term accommodation problems of the mill workers disappeared.
However, BLGC is still going from strength to strength, now welcoming over 4,000 young people through its doors every year. Still one of the largest youth clubs in the UK, the Club offers a range of targeted and universal provisions including sports, arts, mentoring and community outreach work.
Derian House Children’s Hospice provides respite and end-of-life care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions, across Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Our respite breaks give families a chance to re-charge their batteries, or simply spend time together as a family without worrying about the medical side of their child’s care.
When it comes to end-of-life care, our aim is to make the most difficult time a family will have to go through the best it can be, whether this is at Derian House or at home.
We cannot change a diagnosis, but our experienced team of palliative care nurses can offer support, comfort, reassurance, and instil a sense of calm. We are always on-call, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Every year we provide:
New for 2023 Carol and Andrew wanted staff to have a say on which charity to support in 2023. Every member of the team nominated a charity that is close to their heart.
Children with Cancer UK was the charity that was randomly selected.
As a charity they fund research, help support families and also raise awareness.
We look forward to sharing with you charitable events throughout the year and to support an amazing cause.
